Despite influencers’ effortless penchant for snapping ultra-glamorous photos while enjoying luxe holidays, it seems ‘doing it for the gram’ doesn't always work out for us mere mortals, a lesson the vacationers of TikTok have begun to learn the hard way.
Over the past few weeks, TikTokers have taken to the platform with a very unfiltered look at their adventurous pursuits, illustrating that just because you think your action snaps are gram-worthy, doesn’t mean they actually are. Just ask creator Ethan Blackburn, whose recent snorkeling snaps proved that not everyone is destined for a modeling career.

“When I thought the snorkeling guide took the most graceful photos of me,” he wrote in the first part of his viral video, which has since garnered 1.4 million likes, before sharing the actual picture, one he described as looking more “manatee” than “mermaid.”

Yet Blackburn is far from alone. TikToker @peek.xo was also seemingly disappointed with the snaps of their recent skydiving excursion.
“I did myself so dirty,” she captioned the clip showing off the screaming crotch shot she likely paid way too much money on.
Take it from the fine folks of TikTok – just because a picture is worth 1,000 words doesn’t mean those words aren’t “what the actual fuck” written 250 times over.
